Mich Dulce is acclaimed as one of the most original and important Filipino visionaries in fashion today. Gaining first prominence first as a fashion provocateur and alternative clothes designer at the start of her career, she nevertheless demonstrated a commitment to her craft, and honed her skills by apprenticing with established designers like Marjan Pejoski and Jessica Ogden, and pursuing further education abroad at Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design, London College of Fashion, and the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York.

Even during this intense period of study, she nonetheless continued to work as a professional designer, garnering recognition and awards in the Philippines by every top local fashion magazine and even MTV, which nominated her "Revolutionary Designer of the Year” in 2004. But even as early as 2000, Dulce was sent as a representative to regional and international competitions such as the ASEAN and Paris Young Designers Competition. Her biggest triumph so far was to bag the top prize in the 2010 International Young Creative Fashion Entrepreneur sponsored by British Council, besting several other countries for the top prize.

The Mich Dulce label was first sold globally in 2009, with stockists in Manila, Tokyo, London, Paris and Singapore. Prominent personalities such as style icon Anna Dello Russo, editor at large of Vogue Nippon, and British music legend Adam Ant have worn her creations.

To describe Dulce’s key design aesthetic is to view it not as a clash between her seeming “riot grrl” roots and its attendant “anti-fashion” pose with her knowledge and fine appreciation for the art and skill of dressmaking—even most archaic disciplines such as corsetry and millinery—but as a fine art form that is constantly borne out of the creative zeitgeist of the present but transcends it.

Mich Dulce is without a doubt a serious artist—one with a quirky sense of humor as well as an acute understanding of drama. She stands out as a singular talent, a 21st century Asian designer whose idiosyncrasies and passions are not constrained by anything but by her fertile imagination and her technical artistry.
